I learnt to drive an Ioniq 5, while filming Robert Nicholls in his EV. After a few helpful pointers, I was good to go!

I’m going to have a little drive soon, so I’m about to get a few tips before I take the wheel.
Robert
Okay. So most of the controls you need to worry about are here next to your right hand thumb. So the top one at the top corner here is the cruise control. So it’s the on and off for the cruise control.
Robert
And then up and down with the little toggle to set the speed. And if you need to take it off, you push the button in, like that. And then you want to put it back on again. Just flick it back on again. Press it back in again and it turns it back on. The button down here is the button for the lane centering, which is the little round steering wheel there.
Robert
So you take that off and it goes grey and then comes off. So now we’re in the centre of the light in the green one with the stripes, which is the light keep assist to actually keep you in the lane… a long press on the on the time button there. We’ll take that off. The one at the bottom right hand corner here stretches out the distance between the car in front of you.

So you cycle between four car lengths, down to three. down to two and two down to one. And that’s the closest you can get. It adjusts and matches the speed to the car in front. The other thing that you might want to have a play with is the flappy pedals at the back here, which are the different levels of regen. So more braking or more regen on the left hand side and take it off on the right hand side and probably the last button to play with the drive mode which then cycled through go driving in the eco normal sports mode.

What do you do? So then put your foot on the brake. It’s probably the first thing. Yeah, the nob that’s just under the steering wheel there. Rotate it forward for drive. And backwards to reverse and drive from and drive your drive and then it’s just a matter of making sure the traffic’s clear, indicating and putting your foot on the accelerator.
